1. How did you first become interested in Blue Ridge China?
I became interested in Blue Ridge when I was quite young–probably 13 years of age or younger. My parents would buy me odd pieces here and there, but one year, they bought me a set of Erwin Pottery Mammy cookie jars painted by Negatha Peterson. I had them for many years before divesting them from my collection to some dear friends. Later, my Uncle Bucky gave my wife and I a set of Bluebell Bouquet as our wedding china. We’ve tried to buy a full set every year since!
2. How many years have you collected Blue Ridge?
22 years!
3. What inspired you to incorporate Blue Ridge China into your tablescaping designs?
It’s the most natural thing in the world to use Blue Ridge in my tablescapes. Blue Ridge is my heritage. In every piece, I see reflected the handiwork of our foremothers and forefathers who came down from the mountains and who shared their artistry with the world.
4. What is your favorite top 5 patterns of Blue Ridge?
•Beggarweed
•Magnolia
•Dewberry
•Bluebell Bouquet
•Christmas Tree
5. What is the BEST theme tablescape for a party that you have ever hosted?
The best theme is probably a Christmas table with Poinsettia dishes and matching glass.
6. Do you use your china every day or only display it?
I use it every single day!
7. What are you hoping to accomplish with tablescaping at The Bramble other than viewers seeing the beautiful Blue Ridge China?
I hope that those who see my displays who don’t yet collect are inspired to find a new passion and those who DO collect are inspired to share their collection in a new, exciting way!
8. Have you ever attended Unicoi County Apple Festival before? If so, what was your favorite part?
Oh, yes! My favorite part is seeing old friends and neighbors.
10. What is it like growing up in Erwin,Tn with the town’s heritage of Southern Potteries?
It’s incredible–to live in a place with such a heritage and so many wonderful stories is a gift!
Some vintage tablecloths and also featuring Mrs Alice fine linens.
