The Vintage Market at The Bramble will consist of not only Blue Ridge China vendors but various vintage glassware and vintage decor dealers from several states. Along with local crafters from near the Erwin area. Then a bonus from the table scape artist. In the upcoming weeks we will be sharing highlights from those vendors.
We are starting with Rob & Amy vintage glass specialist.
1. How did you first become interested in vintage MCM glassware?
When we became glass dealers about 4 years ago, we focused on what we knew, which was depression glass. We quickly realized that depression glass did not move quickly. After buying 1 set of Culver barware and selling it immediately and observing other dealers inventories, we swiftly pivoted to mid century with a focus on barware. It was definitely the right decision.
2. How many years have you collected vintage glassware?
We have collected depression glass and other vintage glassware for about 40 years.
3. How did you become a vintage glassware dealer?
During COVID we began collecting again. Through meeting several glass dealers and attending glass shows, we “caught the bug”, and decided to become vintage glass dealers. It has been a fun and exciting experience.
4. What are your favorite top 5 patterns of glassware?
Our top pick is Culver barware - particularly “Empress”. We are also fond of swung vases - particularly L.E. Smith “Diamond Butt. Our favorite elegant glass pattern is Cambridge “Caprice”. Mid Century is Fostoria “Heirloom” and depression glass is “Dogwood”.
5. What state (can list city if desire to but not required) that you currently live in? Also is vintage commonly found in your area?
Tyler, Texas. There is vintage glass in Tyler but much different than further East, glass is regional due to manufacturing of the time period.
6. Do you use your china every day or only display it?
We display it.
7. What is your most exciting “thrill of the hunt” piece or set of vintage glass that you have ever found and how did you obtain it?
We found a Diamond & Nubby Butt Swung Vase from a lady on FB Marketplace who was in the process of moving. She really didn’t know what she had, so we got it for an unbelievable steal!
8. What are the top 5 items that you are excited about bringing to The Bramble to sell?
We are excited about bringing a lovely collection of Empoli Genie bottles, several different MCM dinnerware including Franciscan Starburst. We will have our signature mid century barware, including Culver, Georges Briard and others. You will also find some exciting depression era kitchenware in our booth at The Bramble Market.
9. Have you ever attended Unicoi County Apple Festival before? If so, what was your favorite part?
No, this is our 1st time and we are very excited!
We are EXCITED to see & shop The Blue Ridge China & Vintage Decor + Craft Market, Oct 2-4 in Erwin, TN at The Bramble, 206 Gay Street.
