Too much too soon…

Many times as new collectors we enjoy the thrill of the hunt, especially in the Blue Ridge China world because the good stuff is so hard to find.

1. How did you first become interested in Blue Ridge China?

My son, Andrew Catania and I were going through boxes of my Mama’s estate sale finds after she passed away and we stumbled upon 3 Blue Ridge salad plates. We had never heard of Blue Ridge Southern Potteries so we googled it. The history and beauty of the plates sparked our interest so we started searching antique malls and online for more pieces. Searching for and collecting Blue Ridge China and other Erwin area potteries has truly helped me through the grieving process and has given me so much quality time with my son.

2. How many years have you collected Blue Ridge?

We have been collecting for 3 years but if you could see in my house, it looks more like 30! I guess it’s pretty common when you first start collecting, to buy every piece of Blue Ridge that you find in the wild. We are now at the stage where we need to downsize and focus on specific items of interest and share some of the Blue Ridge that we have found with others.

3. How did you become a Blue Ridge, vintage glassware or craft dealer?

I really don’t consider myself a dealer, I’m just a collector who has bought too much Blue Ridge and needs to sell some to make room for more!! As I read that back, I think I may have a problem. LOL!

4. What is your favorite top 5 patterns of Blue Ridge?

Oh this is hard. I only get to pick five? Well, I’d have to start with the patterns that my son found that we were able to name.

1. Beulah

2. Sadie

3. Senescence

4. Original Talisman Wallpaper Samples I purchased from Sydney Nichol’s Blue Ridge Shed in Auburn, AL

5. Lucy Plate my son gifted me for Christmas

5. What state that you currently live in? Also is Blue Ridge commonly found in your area?

I reside in Knightdale, NC. Blue Ridge is not commonly found in this area.

6. Do you use your china every day or only display it?

I mainly display our china but I do use a few serving bowls and the rooster egg plate is used everyday because my husband makes deviled eggs every Sunday evening for me to take to work during the week.

7. What is your most exciting “thrill of the hunt” piece or set of Blue Ridge that you have ever found and how did you obtain it?

Oh my there have been so many! My son and I have been fortunate to find some really great Blue Ridge pieces. He is a master Blue Ridge treasure finder! For me, it would be a toss up between a huge set of “Falling Leaves” or a partial special order set of “Holly Acres - Eventide”…oh and those “Eventide” shakers and 2 Nude Boxes! I could go on and on!

8. What are the top 5 items that you are excited about bringing to The Bramble to sell?

1. A beautiful Kibler’s Rose HTF ovide .

2. Carol’s Roses HTF Barrel Shakers

3. Bargain priced individual Blue Ridge China plates/sets/accessories

4. Hand Crafted Blue Ridge China inspired throw pillows, hand towels, Christmas ornaments etc

5. Various vintage items from my mama’s estate.

9. Have you ever attended Unicoi County Apple Festival before? If so, what was your favorite part?

Yes! I’ve been a couple of times since we started collecting Blue Ridge. Apple cider donuts and seeing everyone walking around with UofTenn/Vols clothing. They love their VOLS and I love their Blue Ridge! Guess I need a Blue Ridge China shirt!
